The flying school of the Weisse Möwe Wels

For passionate pilots

The Weiße Möwe in Wels has a long history in the training sector. The gliding school was founded in 1950, followed by the powered flight school in 1959. Since then, the Weiße Möwe has trained over 1,000 pilots, so it is no exaggeration to Without exaggeration, this makes it one of the most experienced and successful club flying schools in Austria. Many professional pilots have their roots in the WMW. This is certainly also because we pay particular attention to the time constraints of our students. students' time constraints. We are known for attaching great importance to part-time training and tailoring our training to the possibilities of our students.

Wide range of courses

Our training offer consists of PPL (private pilot license), NVFR (night vision flight rating), TMG (motor glider license) as well as radio courses for BFZ, EFZ and AFZ. We also offer differences training for tailwheel, retractable landing gear and variable pitch propellers. A club-owned aerobatic aircraft (Christen Eagle) is available for aerobatic training and hazard briefings.

Learning from professionals

Five flight instructors accompany our students during their training. Five of them are PART-FCL examiners, two are IFR examiners. Thanks to this staffing structure, we can guarantee the highest level of professionalism. Another advantage for flight students is that we can train all year round, as the snow is cleared in winter. For basic training, we use DA-20, PA-28, and SF-25 aircraft, and for NVFR, we use a PA-28.

The high availability of our numerous training aircraft ensures that practical training runs smoothly. Incidentally, we offer the PPL from around €12,000, which includes the registration fee and annual membership fee.

And after the PPL?

Once you have passed your private pilot exam, you naturally want to fly straight away. Experienced colleagues are on hand to help young eagles with this. We look after our young pilots individually, collegially, from and with members. In winter, we organize free training workshops on a wide range of aviation topics. Last but not least, we are also happy to offer special training courses with a short-term membership fee for guests.
