Skydiving in Wels

Free fall and safe landing

At the end of the 1950s, skydiving pioneers Hermann Brindl, Erich Felbermayr, Wolf Weitzenböck and Alfred Schwab founded the skydiving section. Numerous national championship titles and sensational jumps around the world bear around the globe bear witness to the sporting ambition of the Wels skydivers.

The AFF training

An important next step was the introduction of AFF training in 1995. In Accelerated Free Fall (AFF), the student's parachute is no longer forcibly deployed. Accompanied by two instructors, the student descends at an altitude of around 4,000 meters and „enjoys” a one-minute free fall on their very first jump. „We are simply addicted to freefall. It's magical, as if we're flying.“ Sharing these exciting and very moments together is a great joy. It's hard to describe everything that happens in the air.

Seven jumps - seven levels

The training starts with theory lessons and a tandem jump to familiarize yourself. There are seven levels: The first three are completed with two instructors, the next four with one instructor. The eighth jump could therefore be the first without an instructor. Each jump has a special program that is practiced on the floor beforehand. This starts with a few movements and slowly builds up to 360-degree turns and somersaults. After completing of the training you receive a skydiving license. This entitles you to parachute jumps all over the world. The duration of the training depends on the weather. With a bit of luck, you can complete the seven levels in two sunny weekends.

Union Skydiving Club Linz
