Procedures at Wels airfield

Flights are permitted within the published sectors (X, Y, Z) in compliance with the specified heights (maximum height 2500 FT MSL). Lateral deviations are only permitted if there is there is a compelling necessity. Wels Flugplatz must be informed immediately.

Unless otherwise instructed, for the arrival & departure from/to Wels the Transponder code 7000 if available with altitude code. For arrivals and departures without transponder max. 2000 ft MSL.

Remark:For flights into airspaces requiring clearance, clearance must be obtained from Linz RADAR in good time. Only local flight operations information will be provided by airfield operations managers. will be given.

At the latest 3 minutes before entering one of the sectors, radio communication with WELS FLUGPLATZ on frequency 119,705 record.

RWY 08

- via sector X max. 2,500′ - REP ECHO in 2,000′
- over sector Z max. 2,500′ - REP right oncoming approach 26 in 2,000′

Approaches to Wels that change from IFR to VFR are handed over to WELS RADIO by Linz RADAR or Linz TOWER at the latest when leaving class D airspace. Landings on grass runways are also possible, especially for vintage and tailwheel aircraft. on the grass runways are also possible.

WELS RADIO must be notified when leaving the respective sector.

In the case of departures from Wels, where a change from VFR to IFR is to be made immediately after take-off, the operations manager must be informed of this at the latest when taxiing. Immediately after take-off, the clearance for IFR flight must be entered on the LINZ RADAR frequency immediately after take-off.

Departure runway 08L via sector X

Target landings from altitudes above 2,000′ are only permitted with the consent of LINZ RADAR.

Helicopter circuits and hovering exercises only on weekdays from 08:00-12:00 LOC.

Round flights generally only on weekdays! Saturday between 12:30 - 14:30 LOC and Sundays/holidays no aerodrome circuits (min. 20 min. between take-off and landing)!

For cross-border flights to and from Wels from or to non-Schengen states or non-EU states (e.g. Croatia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein), passport or customs clearance is required. Customs and/or passport clearance must be notified to the operations management 60 minutes before arrival or departure.
